Jorge Melara is a Certified Pet Dog Trainer (CPDT) and a member of the Association of Pet Dog Trainers (APDT). As co-owner Divine K-9, Inc., Jorge has trained dogs for over 8 years. In 2004, Jorge filmed a pilot called “Mutt Makeover.” He was a part of a team of people, as the trainer, that helped shelter dogs find homes and behaviorally challenged dogs stay in their homes. Jorge and his dog, CJ, won Most Creative Pet Trick and Best in Show at the first annual Great American Mutt Show in April of 2001. Moreover, they’ve been featured in various newspaper and magazine publications and appeared on Good Morning America, Fox & Friends, Eyewitness News Sunday Morning, and CNN. |

Jorge adopted CJ in Florida in 1997. "...We walked around the cages and saw all those desperate eyes telling their stories...It hurt my heart to see them. I spotted two dogs right away. One was a spotted spaniel mix, the other an American Staffordshire terrier/Rhodesian ridgeback mix...we took the spaniel mix into the meeting room, but he showed no interest in us. Jorge and I adopted Claire on September 5th, 1999. Even though we
both adopted her, it was understood that she is my little girl. Claire
is a Staffordshire Bull Terrier cross. Her coloring is dark brown with
tan brindle and a white chest. |
